Rising
In the dull light of mourning
Slow to wake and unable to sleep
The images are reflected two-fold with prayer and action both being called
Fear and death underlie skin and this is unsteady ground
Find where your roles are woven together unfinished on the loom
Figure out the line of navigation from the refrain
We are a sky map of heavenly bodies
There are the ships, the sea, and the storm
All integral to the story of movement and vessel
Of ownership and nature and persecution
All searching for resolution to global patterns
The lines become a circle then a knot then a marking point
Rowing with backs to one another
The denial and grief come in waves
Without a stand of tide suspension upends
Now in the same boat with unbalanced accounting
Over and under a vortex
The currents are changing
Lakes form on the tundra once mangroves
The forests are migrating
A storm surge dislocates trees onto the house
It’s all part of the process
Orbital quests and agents of change
An olive branch waves through the wreckage of inhumanity
Abandon ship to a lighthouse of justice
Rise out of murky waters and spiral to higher ground
Praying with your feet
